10 – 17 June 2023 (spaces available) and
Join me in this tranquil palm fronded oasis set in 30 acres of citrus and olive groves amidst the dramatic, semi desert countryside with imposing mountains and dazzling sea. This is the perfect spot to support peace, relaxation and practice – and personally one of my favourite retreat places ever! Finca del Alamo is on the edge of the Cabo de Gato National Park and Almeria airport is only 30mins away.
Arrival is after 15:00 on Saturday 10th or 17th June 2023. Check out is the morning of the following Saturday.
Yoga
Each morning will start with some breathing and a short sit before we move into an invigorating, creatively sequenced vinyasa flow practice taught with music and including modifications for all levels. The late afternoon sessions will be slow, nurturing and calming gentle flow and restorative sessions, closing with a longer meditation.
Sessions will include my usual reflections on philosophy, psychology and science to deepen understanding and inspire discussion. (Evening guest talks are always welcome – let me know if you’re interested :).)
Mats and props are provided.
Accommodation
The venue sits in the semi-desert landscape amid lush gardens, its architecture echoing ancient Mediterranean civilizations.
It consists of the main house the ‘Finca’, which won awards in the 80s for its striking modernist design, and a group of converted traditional buildings, the cortijos. The cortijos are just a couple of minutes walk from the main house and next to the yoga studio.
There are shared social and quiet spaces and two eco-pools, one at the house and one with the cortijos.
Food & drink
All meals are plentiful, vegan and buffet style, with lots of choice using fresh local produce. There’s self serve breakfast (fruit) for those who need a bite to eat before practice, a yummy (and substantial) brunch, an afternoon snack and dinner every day apart from one evening when we’ll go out for a meal nearby together.
Alcohol won’t be served with the meals, as I’d like to encourage an inward focus and practice of self awareness. (However, what you do in your own time and space is of course up to you.)

Getting there
The nearest airport to Finca del Alamo is Almeria, about 30 mins away, which is served by a number of airlines from London and elsewhere.
I will arrange a group transfer (cost ~€50 per person return, depending on numbers and what happens with those volatile prices…) meeting the Ryanair flight from Stansted (Departure 7:25am, FR8351) and returning to Stansted leaving Almeria at 11:55am (FR8352) a week after. It’s always great to gather as many of us as possible for the group transfer, but of course you can also make your own way there.
Booking and payment
A £300 deposit will hold your space with the balance due 8 weeks before the retreat.
Ensuite shared twin room £1,165 pp
Ensuite single room £1,410 pp
Payments can be made by bank transfer (my preferred option) or debit / credit card (at an additional 3% card fee).
Please read the Terms & Conditions before booking.
Activities and excursions
There will be no afternoon session one afternoon to allow you to explore the surrounding area (e.g. head to one of the beautiful beaches).
Finca del Alamo is in a peaceful, isolated location, but within walking distance of the pretty traditional local village of Nijar, which can be seen across the valley at the foot of the spectacular mountain backdrop. You can also explore an extinct volcano or walk up to the mountain village of Huebro via the Ruta del Agua (around two hours each way with an opportunity for a refreshing swim at the top – highly recommended!).
Finca del Alamo sits on the edge of the Cabo de Gata National Park, one of the last unspoiled stretches of Spanish coastline. It’s an amazing landscape of perfect half-moon bays, hidden coves, bizarre volcanic rock formations, and spectacular flora and fauna inviting exploration.
Excursions to nearby unspoiled beaches can be arranged (~20mins drive).
