Summer retreat in Turkey

Yoga and mindfulness retreat, all levels welcome

Explore your practice, let the mind settle and let the blue sea of the Turkish mediterranean brighten your heart

18 – 25 May 2024 or
25 May – 1 June 2024 (fully booked)
at the Turquoise Retreat, İslamlar

Join me in this secluded mountain side retreat with stunning mountain and sea views. This is a perfect place to support peace, relaxation and practice.

Turquoise retreat is set against the backdrop of the Taurus mountain range. Its elevated position at the top of the Islamlar village means slightly cooler temperatures than down at the coast. It is within easy reach of some of the most acclaimed beaches in the whole of Turkey, and the pretty village of Kalkan with its relaxed beach is just a little drive away.

Arrival is after 16:00 on Saturday. Check out is by 10:00 of the following Saturday.

Yoga

Each morning will start with some breathing and a short sit before we move into an invigorating, creatively sequenced vinyasa flow practice taught with music and including modifications for all levels. The late afternoon sessions will be slow, nurturing and calming gentle flow and restorative sessions, closing with a longer meditation.

Sessions will include my usual reflections on philosophy, psychology and science to deepen understanding and inspire discussion.

We’ll practice in the air conditioned studio, with a natural cedar wood floor and sweeping views. An outdoor practice platform is also available which we’ll use depending on temperature. Mats and some props are provided.

Accommodation

The comfortable rooms and bathrooms are tiled in natural stone with handcrafted, locally sources cedar wood furnishings.

There are ensuite double rooms with private balconies with mountain and sea views, and twin rooms sharing a bathroom for every two rooms.

There are shared social and quiet spaces, and a 25m infinity saltwater pool (free from chemicals and chlorine).

Food & drink

All meals are plentiful, vegan and buffet style, with lots of choice using healthy, seasonal, locally sourced produce. There’s self serve breakfast (fruit) for those who need a bite to eat before practice, a yummy (and substantial) brunch, an afternoon snack and dinner.

Alcohol won’t be served with the meals, as I’d like to encourage an inward focus and practice of self awareness.

Asana, breathing, history and philosophy were brilliantly themed through the lessons. It was obvious that everything had been thoroughly prepared but it all still came across with a gentle passion and enthusiasm.

Robert

I enjoyed the great yoga, lovely people and relaxed and friendly nature of it all. I felt I could really disconnect. Loved everything. Thank you for your wonderful energy.

Sarah

I really like your approach and find your calming energy radiating around the room just amazing. Your calming voice is very comforting, and yet you remain clear and composed, explaining each new move or next set of instructions so incredibly clearly.

Sylvie

Thank you so much for such an interesting, enjoyable, exhilarating yet peaceful weekend. I truly loved all of it! So much to take away from one weekend.

Dan

I couldn't think of anything I would change about the retreat, it was truly a great weekend. Studio was perfect, nice floor, lighting, views. Food was delicious and plentiful.

Jenny

Interesting topics which really made practical sense in combination with the yoga sessions. The yoga studio was really wonderful - the views, the peacefulness and the sunsets were beautiful.

Sarah

I've already recommended it to many friends, and would definitely be up for a longer period next time. Sad to come home at the end of it.

Kaye

I wanted to say what a wonderful time I had and how profoundly grateful I am to you for the lessons I have learnt through your teaching of yoga.

Getting there

The nearest airport is Dalaman, a scenic drive of about 90mins away. It’s served by a number of airlines from London and elsewhere (check skyscanner.net for options). Antalya is about 3hrs drive away.

We can arrange a group transfer (roughly £50 return). A convenient outbound flight is Wizzair leaving Gatwick at 10am. Inbound could be Easyjet leaving Dalaman at 13:55. Car hire is available at the airport if you’d like to explore the area in the breaks.

(For the adventurous there’s also a very affordable shuttle bus to Kalkan (not sure how frequent). It’ll take ~3hrs from Dalaman. The taxi from Kalkan takes around 10mins).
