  Last week before a little break - with only the online meditation sessions continuing through August. We start with some hip mobilising limbers, set patterns close to the floor that we then take into more challenging standing balances. We contrast square hip warrior stances with open hip postures working our way to flying pigeon - galavasana.   Spending time together on retreat is such an amazing way to enjoy practice and share a relaxed space with a lovely group of people. Having just come back from teaching my first retreat in 16 months in Wales, I’m really excited to (hopefully) finally return to Potash Barns in Suffolk in October for a weekend retreat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These weekend retreats come with ever changing themes, plenty of yoga, breathwork and meditation, and a super cosy setting.   I’m super excited (and a little nervous) to go off to teach my first retreat in 15 months tomorrow. Pre-pandemic I would have never dreamed of teaching a week long retreat in the UK (rather than some place with much more guaranteed sun). And now a week in the Cambrian mountains in Wales sounds positively exotic :) - and the area looks so beautiful.⠀ And more than anything I’m just really grateful it’s happening at all, and I’ll get to unwind with a lovely group of people. The theme for our week together will be: Soften, stop striving, surrender…..I can’t wait. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’d like to come on retreat with me, I have 2 more weekend retreats planned for this year.   Just a few days of regular classes this week before I’m off to teach in the Welsh mountains for a week from Friday. I’m so excited. This is my first retreat since early March 2020… So, until Wednesday we will stabilise the hips to then move towards deeper and deeper hip opening - as you can see in the progressions here. We'll add twists as we go along in our journey towards dragonfly / maksikanagasana - a deep twist, hip opening arm balance (with a little ‘mating dragonfly’ shape as a bonus on the 2nd side - don’t ask me where the name comes from….).
