Side plank to twist transitions towards twisted koundinyasana

Building strength and inner stability – physically and also mentally – will contribute to a felt sense of ease, calm and inner support.

Starting with lunging twist, we progress towards transitions from side plank to standing twists, then twisted arm balances. This is a great practice to bring up heat in the body and aid digestion – certainly in a physical way, but stoking our inner fire also helps us to digest our experiences, ideas, thoughts, challenges and whatever is part of our life.

Strong heat-building practices can be a great way to metabolise stress hormones, build strength from the outside in and support us on our journey of self-care.
