Shoulder strength and mobility, backbends, balance and playfulness

This class has a moderately paced flow and is most suitable if you’ve been practicing for a little while.

 

We explore our perception of ourselves and use our practice as a basis for learning more about who we are, the bodies we live in, emotional and mental habits we have adopted, and our reactions to challenge and stillness.

We’ll start by mobilising the spine in different positions in space, and then use repetition and variation (vinyasa krama (krama means ‘stage’) to move from a simpler standing sequence to a more complex one including some interesting challenges for standing balance.

In between we explore modifications of bujangasana – cobra pose – to open heart and shoulders, as well as postures with forearms on the ground to strengthen the upper body.

Options and modifications for all levels are included.
