Active strengthening backbends and variations of ashtanga namaskar

The theme for this class is the subtle internal system of the nadis with particular emphasis on Ida and Pingala nadis which represent and encompass all opposing aspects of our being. Physically we work with shoulder opening and strengthening towards opening the front body in backbends.

We work with some powerful active backbends in lunge and bow variations, where we rely on muscle strength and inner support. And we’ll explore variations of ashtanga namaskar – knees-chest-chin pose journeying towards ganda bherundasana (called chin stand – although we’re not standing on our chin at all :).
