Appear as you are. Be as you appear.
All my classes and talks are open to everyone – whether you like to sit on the floor, in a chair or even stand; whether you’ve been meditating for 20 years or have never tried; whether your mind is easily focused or mostly all over the place (like mine…).
I usually start by giving a short talk on a particular subject that informs our practice that day and then guide through a formal practice. In additional to regular meditation classes all my yoga retreats include morning and evening meditation and I often include meditative practices like yoga nidra in my yoga workshops.
An introduction to mindfulness
Friday 14 June 2019, 18:30 – 20:00
at yogahome, Stoke Newington
Mindfulness is a skill that keeps our minds healthy and balanced – just like exercise helps to take care of the body. This is an active process, which requires just the right motivation and effort to direct us a certain way – and it has an agenda: a clearer and deeper understanding of ourselves from which to act and live.
There’s an ever-growing body of empirical evidence showing that mindfulness helps us to make better choices in life, be more productive and respond to challenging situations with more resilience. We live with less stress and anxiety, and more clarity, appreciation and contentment.
This workshop combines guided practice with an overview of the theory and science of mindfulness and an understanding how it can lead to positive and sustainable change. There will also be time discuss and ask questions.
No previous experience required.
Isabell's passion for meditation shines through. The depth of her experience and knowledge makes the meditation classes a unique experience. My personal meditation practice wouldn't be what it is without her calming, considered jewels of wisdom. Hearing her talk about the subject of mindfulness and meditation makes the ambiguity diminish. The task is clear and the benefits come to light.James
For years I practised yoga thinking meditation as a separate practice was not for me. Realising I might be missing something I fortuitously booked a meditation class with Isabell. I absolutely love her warm, open-minded, creative and generous approach. I always connect with her words, her energy, and ability to guide us so beautifully in the here and now through each class.Amanda
Mindfulness and self-compassion course
Living in a fast paced city can be exciting, but also hectic and challenging, often leaving us feeling stressed and out of balance. Developing mindful awareness helps us to highlight our habitual patterns of thinking and brings more clarity into our life. We learn to step away from the inner critic and life on autopilot, develop a deeper connection with ourselves, and empathy towards others. This course forms a methodical approach from which to live our lives with more openness, kindness, resilience and less reactivity and stress.
I regularly teach this six to eight-week course publicly and in corporate settings. It combines experiential mindfulness practices with the latest insights in neuroscience and group discussion to explore what mindfulness is and how it can be integrated into daily life.
You will leave with tools to
lower stress and anxiety
increase resilience to deal with the unavoidable difficulties of life
